Your videos are found via “clues on the page” where your video file is embedded. The discussion does cover both hosting videos on third party web sites like Viddler and the all-famous YouTube and the pros and cons of self-hosted videos.
Spreading your videos around is also a good thing. We’ve found that while you could host the video yourself, viewing times are greatly “speeded up” for your viewer when they are hosted on sites optimized for video viewing.
In addition, pick your third party hosting sites carefully. For example, should you choose Viddler, you are able to edit the title (use your keyword in the title), provide a (keyword rich) description, and tag it. YouTube is great, but at the moment spots like Viddler top our list. And, search engines pick up your video very quickly!
Here’s a bit more about optimizing your video online, condensed, of what you’ll find when you visit the Webproworld forum link above:
1. Sitemaps …video sitemaps are a recommended way to give Google information about the video content of your site…
2. RSS Feeds …Google loves to crawl RSS feeds of various types, and this includes RSS feeds that focus on video content…
3. Metadata …metadata is the best source for search engines to determine what your video is about…
4. Provide a transcript …embedding a transcript in the video viewing page will provide the search engines with a wealth of content to index…
5. Optimize the video page …where the video is embedded focusing on the key topics of the video. Context seems to be an important factor…
6. Use friendly URLs …provide the search engines with additional clues as to the relevant topics of the video.
7. Be consistent when distributing your video …this will give you more opportunities to show up for your target term…
8. Prepare for the future of video search …By taking these steps now, your videos can remain relevant as search engines improve their scanning and indexing capabilities.
Again, a trip to the forum is in order to fill in the gaps of what I did not include.
Also, the responses to this sticky post on video optimization are worth the read.
Not everyone is prepared to jump on the video bandwagon at the moment, but arming yourself to use this immensely popular form of internet and social media marketing in the future is a sure winner.
Here on OIMS while we gather intel on the best and brightness ways to internet and social media market your website, we also do have numerous services geared to fixing the problems so many face.
The use of cold calling, direct mail, and randomly harassing people by telephone quickly allow you to discover (if you don’t go broke first) techniques that don’t work or require so much work there’s no fun left to promoting your business.
Unlike these time consuming, futile (and often ineffective) methods, online seo marketing coupled with the proper amount of social marketing, with more than a dash of ezine advertising thrown in, pull customers to you.
Yes, it takes the proper know how and use of the right tools, software, methods, and techniques to make it happen. That’s why we’re in business – to handle your seo and social media marketing. Or to quickly bring you up to speed, even train you to take over, if that’s your goal.
So, was it really coincidence that today Scott found this video? We think not.
No, the video is not ours, but it does represent everything we can and will do for you! Slide past the 10 years plus we’ve been online and start off your New Year right with the most practical ways to market…
On Thursday, November 20th, while watching The Rachel Maddow Show, Rachel interviewed the author of Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell. Now, of course, she put it in a political context, but actually the book itself is not.
Having the ability (real talent) for success is a component, but it is not the be all and end all: (more…)
Before I get into sharing a tremendous potential money making resource I found yesterday, I’d like to ask one thing of you. If you have just a moment, please take a second and visit our newest online internet marketing strategies hubpage (this will open in a new window), and give us a (hopefully!) thumbs up (its down after the article itself in the “Share It” section), we’d really appreciate it. Thank you!
Now on to that great potential income/job resource!(more…)
I just witnessed something so strange I had to write to tell you about it!
We have two cats, Sammy (a Persian stray) and Sweetie (a Siamese also a stray). Sammy is the sweetest cat you’d ever want to meet. Even my father thinks so, and he’s not cat lover lol!
Sweetie is also just that, only she’s got a bit of the devil in her. While she can, and does roam, the neighborhood (never too far), Sammy has supervised walks outside since some s.o.b. declawed him way back when and then abandoned him.
Okay, enough preamble…
Just now I was at the back of the house looking out the slider, and Sweetie had just stepped every so carefully around me to go out to lay by the pool. Or at least I thought that was her objective. Then suddenly I hear her making soft, sweet, consistent “calls.” Thinking something might be wrong I stood very still to try to discern what sort of sound this might be. I didn’t have to wait long (and her eyes are much sharper than mine). There was a dove perched on the wall and she was IMITATING the bird, as she crept closer and closer. The bird almost appeared to be waiting patiently for her arrival! (Yikes!)
Well, of course, I stepped in and put a nix to that, but wow! Hypnotic or what??
(Maybe this is where I throw in how to NOT be hypnotized into false beliefs online when it comes to marketing…?? Sorry couldn’t resist!)
As for arcades… Later today, I’m taking two 17 year olds and a 16 over to the Las Vegas strip to our local GameWorks. My son turned 17 on Wednesday and they are all impatient to go spend money like there’s no tomorrow playing even more games then they all typically play in a week’s time cramped into a few hours It’s very odd to think your kids (or kid in my case) can attain such a great age in such a short amount of time!
As for what’s coming up…
We’ll be writing about several other marketing methods and services we are using that are building our backlinking to this blog in record speed (see yesterday’s post for one) this coming week.
Granted, I’m sort of jumping around here, so in closing on this gorgeous Saturday I just want to slip one fine point in here. By now you have got to have read about and been advised repeatedly (not only here but everywhere – blogs and static websites alike) – of the fine art of building your business (blog or website or…) by using blog COMMENTING to your advantage.
Yet I sit here shaking my head. I visit a TON of blogs daily for ourselves and our clients, and while I do not comment on all of them, I would say on average I manage at least 10 comments per day. Good, well thought out, or hearty thank you comments. Yes I have the Google PR and Alexa Rank plugin on my trusty Firefox, but it does not keep me from posting ANYWHERE I really appreciate the information I’ve received. Whether it’s a cute/funny picture, a resource I needed more information about, or just a person’s “this is how my life is going,” taking the time to comment does MORE THAN build backlinks, it helps (and lets) other people know YOU exist.
Don’t let this wonderful opportunity continue to slip through your fingers. A comment a day – three minutes of your time – and you will be AMAZED at the results – yes with just ONE comment a day!
