When It Rains…

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

This is just a very short post, hopefully to be replaced with a much larger one today or tomorrow. On Tuesday my hip and leg started hurting. By Wednesday, I was crawling out of bed on my hands and knees. Having no insurance coverage, I was also stressing all the nasty “what ifs.”

However, from my husband’s last (laid off) job we did pick up the COBRA coverage. On Monday, I’ll be heading to the doctors to see what the heck did I do to myself. (more…)

Recap Rant And Everyday Heroes

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

Yesterday I promised you a truly eye-opening and heartwarming story for this post, but first my recap (rant) of what went down last night during the Vice Presidential debate. As we gathered our pizza boxes and drinks and settled down with an atmosphere not unlike the Super Bowl, here’s my conclusions:

First off, my understanding ever since grade school (no earlier, ever since the first time your parents asked you a direct question), you answer the question. Only kids and people with something to hide dodge a direct question. Frankly, even in marketing, it’s best to say, “I do not know, but I will find out the answer for you!” then to pretend you are either answering it or worse yet saying, “I don’t want to answer that question, instead I want to talk about…”

I wasn’t expecting rocket science from Palin, (more…)

And Forcedgreen Gets the Gold!

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

If ever there is a Gold Medal for blogging, Linda Rembowski of Forcedgreen would win hands down!

The August 16th edition of the WebProNews includes a quick (I don’t know what to call it… article? post? tidbit?) of information from their staff writer, David A. Utter. He writes:

The popularity contest of blogging and gaining links and traffic doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time and work.

And, of course, he’s not far off the mark. However, today we’ve got the great pleasure of taking our Sunday Fun Day to tell you about the huge success of (more…)

A Memory Walk With A Purpose

Saturday, August 2nd, 2008

Saturdays and Sundays typically mean we get to stretch our legs and post things outside the fields of social media marketing.

Today is one of those days :)

Let’s face it, one of the most valuable things each of us has is our memories, be they great ones or one’s we’d rather not think about (even those serve a purpose to remind us what not to do in the future).

Alzheimer’s Memory Walk

But a devastating fact is that Alzheimer’s is a disease that strikes many, wiping all memories and impacting families.

The Alzheimer’s Association would like to make us all aware of the fact that raising awareness and money for research should be upper most in all of our minds.

The Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for research.

They are looking for volunteers of all ages to “become champions in the fight against Alzheimer’s.” With more than 600 walks in communities across the country, a typical walk is 2-3 miles. They hold these walks on weekend mornings in the fall.

You, too, can volunteer to “walk with a purpose” just click on the Alzheimer’s Memory Walk link featured above for more information.
