Google Limits Page Views Or As The World Gets Weirder

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

Strangely enough, just before this “story broke” (actually it was hidden in a tiny little section of our local business paper which I detest – the paper and the hiding), a friend of mine running WorldNewsVine and I were talking about the people’s right to news and how it’s used on their websites and blogs.

I won’t get into the whole convoluted mess, but here’s the little snippet of information that, if anything, should get you to take a look at your own web site or blog if you provide feeds:

Google said it will allow publishers to set a daily limit on the number of articles readers can view free through its search engine.

What the…?!

So I went digging, and suggest you take a look at:

o News.Sky.com

o Sliceofscifi.com

Or just do what I did and type in “google limits articles” into their search engine.

Freedom is getting slimmer by the day people… we best be sticking up for ourselves – fair warning.

Turning 18 Is This Serious?

Friday, May 8th, 2009

So at 2 minutes til midnight last night (11:58 pacific time), my son turned 18. Never has something so simple seemed so complex. He’s always been a serious child, now I watched as he felt as if the weight of the world had descended on his shoulders.

It wasn’t that long ago, when turning 18 means more joy and freedom. I can understand actually where he’s coming from… turning 18 in this economic conditions has got to be if not fear-filled at least an anxious time for many growing up “kids.”

He didn’t mind, so I’m helping celebrate this big event with/for him. Until Sunday night, May 9th, you’ll find a special surprise if you click here. If you come late to read, and the page is gone…. sorry!

Happy Birthday Sean – may you truly and uniquely enjoy being an adult!

New Projects New Blog New Year

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

The new year has brought us some new ideas, along with the return (revisiting) of some old concepts.

Scott and I have been working on programs outside our typical realm of “service oriented.” Strangely enough, our newest blog, a facts about what other people are searching for blog named ImWebNiches.com, is a return to one of those “old” concepts. It’s an experiment really to answer the question, “Is adsense really dead or not?”

(However, while there are some adsense ads on that blog, it is not just an adsense page. That’s the experiment part.)

With other projects in the works, I’ve also discovered that ImWebNiches is a fun blog to put together (like this one). The difference between the two is that this one deals with internet and social media marketing strategies, and the other… can be about anything we want it to be about. That brings a bit of freedom to me (in particular) since I’m a gabby sort and like stepping outside the realm of marketing every now and again.

Our other projects? Well since they are still “under construction” we’ll keep them secret for now. In the meantime, a test of our new search engine directory blog is underway.

We shall see.
