In his book “Democracy in America”, Alexis DeTocqeville (circa 1848) had this to say: ” A Democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of Government. It can only exist until the voters discover they can vote themselves largesse (a liberal gift) out of public treasury. Today’s post comes from a culmination of a week’s worth of events. In fact, I’m shocked to see that my last post was this past Sunday; this isn’t like me at all!
