Inspiration Found By Changing Your Mind Set

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

The other day while visiting and reading a favorite blogger of mine, Lisa had a guest writer post that really struck the right nerve for me. I’m sure it will be true for you, too.

It was another way of looking at success versus failure. Actually, it was much clearer than that – how “Success is not the opposite of failure; it’s merely the other end of the see-saw”.

Succinctly put, without failure, we would never move forward. If life came easily, we would not have to try. Sure we need successes in our lives, but if we cringe at the word “failure” and spend all our time avoiding it, when do we step up to the plate and really give something our all?

The other message writer Brian V. Hunt inspired me with is the thought of how to wake up and approach each day. To, honestly, embrace failure as a friend. He actually has written an entire section on “How to Court Failure”.

Interesting things start to happen when you stop looking at the word from the negative – and no this isn’t some law of attraction post (although it sort of is). My words cannot do justice to the value of reading Brian’s post on Lisa’s blog the other day.

By changing the way we look at success and failure, our family life changes, our business lives change, our friendships change. For me, the affect has been a very positive one, so a big thanks goes to Brian for writing, and Lisa for posting!

My suggestion, and challenge, for you today is to read it, too.

Then be sure to COMMENT and tell me what you think. All the links will open in new windows, so you can return here easily.

How An All Inclusive System Grows Your Business

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Mavenlink. All opinions are 100% mine.

There are many stages when it comes to client and business interfacing. There also are many strategies one can use to efficiently run one’s business. However, the folks over at Mavenlink have refined client/business interaction to a fine art.

In a nutshell, Mavenlink is ideal for:

o Businesses
o Consultants
o Service Firms
o Non-Profit Organizations.

Let’s take a quick look at what I’m attempting to express. There is you (the business), your team (if you have employees and/or additional consultants), and the vital part of this equation… your client. (more…)

Got The Chantix But Need To Wait

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

The other day – and I still think it’s a great idea – I was talking about electronic cigs. I also mentioned at the time a prescription my sister took that after six weeks, she’s been smoke free for just about a year now. I mentioned the potential side effects of Chantix – which had/have me worried.

However, I got up the nerve and today got the prescription from my doctor (had a checkup anyway). I will, though, be waiting to start the regiment. If you read the Magic 8 Ball post you’ll know that currently I’m really not in the right frame of mind. I want this to be the LAST TIME and truly quit forever (not just stop for a while).

So as soon as I start – I’ll keep you posted on the process. So far three out of four individuals have had great success (that I know or know of within my circle of friends and relatives) – so I’m hoping I’ll be in the majority. We shall see.

Incredible Accredited and Free Courses Online On Demand

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

First, I actually need to create a subtitle for this post, and I’m calling it:

“How to Earn Accreditation With Surprisingly Low Out of Pocket Expenses Using A Platform Trusted by Fortune 500 Companies to Live Your Dream or Boost Your Employment Standing”

Okay, NOW I can get started telling you about Learn.com.

Elearning has never been easier (or less expensive). Learn.com (personal version) offers a vast array of online Accredited courses in:

o Healthcare
o Finance
o Legal
o Insurance
o Ethics
o Compliance
o OSHA
o and more!

They also have a search-able catalog of more than 5,000 additional courses from IT topics to personal development… and more!

You’ll see below that I’m looking around the IT section, but the next one I’ll be investigating will be their courses on health care. Health care and teaching are two valuable employment opportunities no matter where you live or plan to move to… they are just “in demand” fields (so I’ve got to keep that in mind as I look around).

Another amazing feature to using Learn.com online is you can create your own “job profile.” This means you choose your career path and they help you develop the necessary skills to achieve your own dream!

Going yet another step further, if you’re the inventive type and have a course you’ve created, Learn.com will help you sell it. Of course, with such high standards, they do review and qualify you to become a “course author” beforehand which only makes sense.

I just registered – for free - and there are 10 courses immediately available for me – again for free (easy enough to find, after registering and logging in click on Free Courses).

The problem is choosing which one?! Actually you can pick class by class or bundle the whole thing together. For instance, I just clicked on the IT program.

I have 15 choices, and each of them is broken into subcategories. The IT Technology Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) is further broken down into 13 sub-sections.

I can choose to:

o Take one course at a time at just (hold onto your hats!) $3.99/month or

o Opt for 6 months (giving myself more time for studying the course for just $6.99/month OR

o Select all the sub-courses, take a year to complete them, and pay just $9.99/month.

Now keep in mind, I’ve over here investigating IT because that is my passion. However, there are numerous “passions” to choose from. You can search by:

o Free Courses
o Sub Category
o All Courses by Category
o Or, Create a Course.

What is intriguing to me is THIS just may be the stepping stone your newly graduated son or daughter needs if they are “in between” what to “do next.”

And be selfish! Heck, brush up and/or add more skills to your own personal resume to hang onto your job or find a new one!

Oh, and while I personally am roaming around the “personal account” (again created for free), they also have a “business” signup, too.

Decisions, decisions….

Okay, I think I’ve written enough because, frankly, I want to spend several hours going over my choices and picking the perfect course that applies to me (while keeping my eyes open for our son).
