Your Face to Face Facebook Toolbar

Monday, July 6th, 2009

I feel like a fool for even writing it because there most likely isn’t a person on the planet that hasn’t at least heard of Facebook by now.

But if you’re a Facebook fan, did you know that they’ve teamed up with Ask.com to provide you with a nifty little interface? This toolbar can save you hours of time and keep you current with the goings-on within your Facebook account. Best of all – yes, it’s a free download!

Social media web sites, and staying actively involved in the ones you’ve chosen, can be difficult at best. Who really has the time to jump from one social community to the next? You know you NEED TO because it not only makes great business (and or just friendship) sense.

That’s why I highly advocate grabbing and using toolbars whenever possible! Makes your life a whole lot easier… And again, why not? It’s free :)

Twitter Still Confusing You Watch This

Monday, February 9th, 2009

Ugh Greymatter comes to the rescue again with this interesting post I found last night. Owen had updated some of his videos and the one that caught my eye, and turned out to be very entertaining was the one about “Twitter in Plain English.”

So thanks to Owen, you, too, can be entertained in the simplest of forms, this YouTube video:

Now for someone to come up with a way that tells me how to manage to Tweet all day and still get work done LOL!

Enjoy :)

Guest Posting How To Information

Monday, December 29th, 2008

This morning, while talking with Janet Giacoma, we discussed the value of guest posting, or more precisely, pursuing the idea of guest posting on other people’s blogs.

So after a lengthy conversation about marketing strategies for the upcoming New Year (and of course once I was off the phone), I started doing a bit of digging. (Guest posting is not something new to us, but it never hurts to do a bit of background research to bring yourself up to speed.)

Guest Posting Secrets (How to Get Published on An A-List Blog), posted a little over a year ago, provides the information anyone considering adding such a marketing strategy to their business should take the time to read… first!

“In this post, I want to share the strategies I used to secure guest-posting spots at three Technorati Top 100 blogs (ProBlogger, Copyblogger and Zen Habits) without any prior contact with the owner. I don’t include that information to boast – I simply want to show you that these methods work. If they worked for me, they can work for you.”

This informational post provides specific guest post directions such as:

o  Why guest post on popular blogs?
o   Choosing where to guest post
o   Coming up with the perfect idea
o   Pitching your post (includes email template)
o   Opportunities to look out for
o   And important things to remember

Not surprising, it also appears that the post about guest posting may itself BE a guest post. How clever is that?

Our suggestion? Make the time to study up on, and implement, this social media marketing concept as soon as possible, and reap the benefits.

Easy YouTube Alternates To Share Your Videos

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

In our search for a video sharing website similar to YouTube, but without your competitors videos showing up at the end when your video is done running, our hunt was on.

A second requirement was the video sharing site had to accept videos longer than 90 seconds – even with a Pro account at Flickr, it is not possible.

The hunt continued.

While we checked many, finding the file size is easy – finding the length in terms of time your video takes to run isn’t always straightforward. Other than YouTube, most killed the upload at a minute and a half.

However…

Mission accomplished! We decided on Viddler.com – which has all the features we were looking for… and it’s free! Here’s an example – Street Sampling. When you get to the site, below Scott’s bio, you’ll see the ones we’ve loaded so far (there will be more).

Our thanks go out to the How To Split An Atom blog for providing 11 Video Sharing Sites That Aren’t YouTube.

In addition, I’d like to mention to all our Whole Hog Bloggers that we will be upgrading everyone to WP 2.7. We’ve tested it out and read all about it. The reviews are excellent and the transition was seamless… you’re going to love the new dashboard!

And since tomorrow is Christmas, and we do celebrate, I’m not sure if we’ll post on Christmas or not.

So a Very Merry Christmas and Holiday Season to everyone, and may your New Year be your biggest and brightest yet!
