Apples Are Not Just For Teachers

Saturday, September 3rd, 2011

apple laptopIn the olden days, personal computers were large, clunky, definitely non-mobile creatures, and there was no such thing as a laptop, let alone an apple laptop. However, Apple didn’t stand still and just take it on the chin. We all know the story. Two guys get together, develop, fight, and part ways. But for those lucky enough to enjoy the wonders of any Apple product, their new selection of an apple laptop for those in the market for mobility is amazingly diverse.

Why Choose An Apple Laptop?

Apple users have always been thought of as a breed apart. PC users have been lured into the idea that Apple products are not the way to go. Lots of marketing ploys, but the truth is far different than the picture painted.

A good friend of ours, who lives in the Los Angeles area, is a truly loyal Apple user, a real apple laptop fan. In fact, I believe you’d have to pry it from his cold, dead hands (sorry it’s just an expression). However, he does love it that much :)

And, are you aware that the big manufacturers you associate with pc’s also make sure they have a large selection of apple laptops in their arsenals? It’s true. Hewlett-Packard has more than 280 apple-related products, Acer clocks in with more than 180, Toshiba with 153. Those are just some of the “big name” manufacturers, long trusted to supply the best of the best laptops.

A Mobile World Means An Apple Laptop

In a world that moves at the speed of light, having a MacBook Air Notebook (for example) at the ready is a must. Weighing in at a mere 3 pounds, along with its amazing 1.6 GHz 2/64 Flash, what Apple did was take what they had learned by designing the iPad and incorporated those features and more into this highly portable machine.

Of course, there are many, many, many more choices in a variety of sizes, prices, and features. So the next time you’re in the market for a computer, be sure to put an apple laptop on your list to investigate when you go shopping!

Starting A Blog Another Example of How Not To Do It

Tuesday, April 26th, 2011

Starting a blog is fairly easy; starting a blog the right way is not a walk in the park. I recently came across yet another spin off of the “put your blog inside my master blog and let me charge you money to build links for my domain” type of service. Wrong! Anyone starting a blog has to think about their needs and themselves FIRST and ALWAYS!

Reinforcement – Starting a Blog Is YOUR Business Strategy

I think the reason so many fall for the idea that starting a blog as a subdomain under a “master domain” is “easy” is because they don’t dig deep enough to understand the full ramifications of this decision:

1. It’s NOT your domain – you’re going to slave away building links for the other guy who just has to sit back and let you do the work to grow his/her business.

2. It’s much better to build your own spot on the internet for so many reasons!

A Few Reasons Why Starting A Blog of Your Own Is Best

As every marketer knows (including my case in point above) starting a blog with its wonderful link building is a must strategy to be attractive in terms of SEO and other people finding you. Eventually, you’re going to have to bite the bullet. You need to decide to stay on the edges or jump in and swim with the big and small fishes. I can tell you that having your own spot to advertise and market is easier on your wallet. In addition, you’re spending your money on yourself.

My case example (for starting a blog to his advantage) charges over $60/month. Hmmm… it reminds me of a time (long ago) where my business partner (at that time) and I spent $97 a month doing the same thing. It didn’t take us long to realize, “Wait a minute! We’re starting a blog, but this guy now has over 600,000 back links in the search engines!” Of course, we canceled that membership!

Free blogs and their pitfalls have been discussed before on this blog, so there isn’t a need to reiterate why going free isn’t always a smart move. Suffice to say, you want to put your best foot forward and let the world know you are an independent operator with the ability to afford (at a minimum) hosting of your own.

Consider the advantages of blogging with a pre-established network when starting a blog or a website online.

Internet IP Addresses Will World IPv6 Day Keep You Connected?

view of world map so many countries with internet ip addresses

Talk about the finite amount of bandwidth usage for the internet was the topic of the day a while back, but today the most pressing concern is the finite amount of internet ip addresses and the fact that the worldwide web is running out of them.

The History Behind Internet IP Addresses

Turns out that way back in 1976 when the Department of Defense (DoD) was busy connecting computers and creating what ultimately became the internet the rest of us use each day, they were sort of forced to put a number on just how many internet ip addresses the data network was going to need.

Sounding amazingly like a Bill Gates reverberation from the past about memory and RAM in an in-home computer, the DoD settled on 4.3 billion internet ip addresses as the magic number. Little did they know. After all, this whole network thing was “just an experiment” at the time.

Fast Forward 35 Years and the World is Running Out of Internet IP Addresses and How They Plan to Fix That Sticky Problem

Estimated to reach critical mass within the next year to year and a half, the scramble is on to ensure that Earth’s seven billion population doesn’t watch their internet ip addresses and connections go down in flames. Actually that’s a tad dramatic, the powers that be have been aware for quite some time now that there is this huge looming situation that must be dealt with as quickly and seamlessly as possible.
