Not Sure Why But Survey I Did

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

This morning in my inbox was a survey request by the program owner of the web site builder I use for My Wizard Ads. Typically I tend to ignore these, but since the subject revolved around the all important “traffic and how to get more” issue, I was game.

After going through a series of screens and reaching the finish line, I came to two conclusions:

1. The “recommend a friend” (which I did not fill out) was inevitable.

2. As I answered the questions, I can already “see” the results for myself.

The outcome of this survey, one of which I am still hoping will be useful, at the moment appears to be a rehash of who is doing what currently online. Traffic generating is a huge issue, and always will be, of course.

However, since there was no spot to input comments like, “Hey, you’re not going to believe this, but I found that x is a great way to get traffic!”, it most likely will be yet another compilation of the same thing we all know – email marketing, blogging, article marketing, PPC, coaching, search engine optimization, and social media marketing. The only difference will be the percentages – how many are using which ones.

So, while I have my fingers crossed that there might be “something new” to learn, I can almost with 100% accuracy predict what will be in the “report”.

Thank goodness I’m getting a copy of it for free LOL!

(P.S. I know, the title sounds very “Yoda” to me, too)

Do People Expect Too Much Too Soon?

Saturday, August 28th, 2010

I’m curious what your thoughts are regarding the internet as a means to make money. Actually, more specifically, I’m wondering do people naturally assume because it is easy to access the internet, that translates into “easy money”, too?

Evidence I receive day to day suggests more and more desperate individuals (and with an unemployment rate at worse than scary heights it’s not small wonder) are making their way to the internet in the search for money. The primary question asked, “How fast can I make that money?”

Actually this question comes in many forms. From the “how many sales” to the previously mentioned, “how soon” to the “what should I promote to make some fast money?”

People are desperate, because these are precarious times. However, don’t let your desperation let you do something stupid. If you’re down to your last dollars (hopefully not!), then hoping to suddenly strike it rich online is foolish. (more…)

How To Eliminate Those Wrapping Text Frustrations

Friday, March 5th, 2010

Earlier today, a good friend of mine was struggling to get high quality ads placed inside posts (not on the sidebar) of WordPress. While it’s easy enough to incorporate photos and the like, and get your text to wrap around said items, two highly used sources (videos and ads) continue to drive people crazy when it comes to wrapping their words around them.

YouTube videos and ads from Pulse360 are just two examples. Often one is forced to leave blank space and start the next paragraph underneath. No amount of playing around with obvious methods seems to satisfy your requirements. However, thanks to remarkableblogger the solution is super easy. (It just takes persistence using the search engines, yes your answer is out there.)

Here’s a screen shot of the highlighted code you would enter around say a YouTube video (you can visit the remarkableblogger above to actually see its placement): (more…)

New Service On It’s Way

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Sometimes you just can’t help repeating yourself, so this post is for anyone who hasn’t read the most recent on the My Wizard Ads.

While most of my last decade has been spent in ezine advertising, online marketing, link building, and helping new bloggers, it’s always exciting to come across something “new.” Now I’m not making any promises, but I personally know the people developing a service I’m really looking forward to incorporating onto the MWA website.

Still hammering out the final details, then it’s testing time! So cross your fingers because this sounds extremely promising!

More soon!
