Do People Expect Too Much Too Soon?
I’m curious what your thoughts are regarding the internet as a means to make money. Actually, more specifically, I’m wondering do people naturally assume because it is easy to access the internet, that translates into “easy money”, too?
Evidence I receive day to day suggests more and more desperate individuals (and with an unemployment rate at worse than scary heights it’s not small wonder) are making their way to the internet in the search for money. The primary question asked, “How fast can I make that money?”
Actually this question comes in many forms. From the “how many sales” to the previously mentioned, “how soon” to the “what should I promote to make some fast money?”
People are desperate, because these are precarious times. However, don’t let your desperation let you do something stupid. If you’re down to your last dollars (hopefully not!), then hoping to suddenly strike it rich online is foolish.
Numerous posts have been done on this blog and other websites, each emphasizing the fact that most people spend as much as a few years online getting it right. If you were lucky enough to have come across the internet say 10 years ago, almost anyone could answer your question.
It was MUCH easier 10 years ago. And, then you’d also have 10 years of more experience to date under your belt. You’d understand the ins and outs of marketing wisely, how to promote, where to go and what to do. You’d know that no matter what site you read, or how wonderful it sounds, or how much they “give you”, they never, ever promise you traffic.
This isn’t to discourage you. Not by a long shot. But it is a reality call. Come to the internet, take your time selecting the best thing for you to promote, learn how to make your own websites if need be, learn about blogging. Give yourself some credit that you can write articles. Study material that is freely available or inexpensive but accurate to ensure you wring every penny from every dollar. Above all, know that you must have a budget and/or the free time to market, market, market online.
The “dream” does not happen overnight. But for those with a plan, and the ability to stick to it without faltering, it can and does happen.
