Winners Announced for the AMO “Gotta See This Now” Video Contest

Have you ever thought of entering a video contest only to question whether you had the “right stuff” to make a potentially winning video? What it takes is a willingness to give it your all, just be yourself, and – of course – fulfill the requirements and/or guidelines of that particular contest.
Recently, Abbott Medical Optics, Inc. (AMO), a business that just happens to be a global leader in laser vision correction, held a contest to see who could make the best video, and their iLASIK Video Contest was a huge success! Sixty (60) participants submitted home videos regarding their experience with Lasik eye surgery.
The directions were simple enough for anyone who loves to create videos. Participants were asked to pick from a specific category – their choice – and make a 90 second or less video about their experience. The AMO folks wanted to make it a positive experience all around, and encouraged film makers to have fun, be spontaneous, and, above all, be themselves. Adding music, props, creative elements like sounds, etc., were all part of the process. Makers of their videos were also given an astounding array of formats to use – the whole contest was flexible and fun!
The crowning glory – the Grand Prize – was a whopping $5,000!
I encourage you to go see all the entries put together with time, patience, and the hopeful ambition of being THE winning video at GottaSeeThisNow (and you might pick up some pointers of your own so when the next video contest comes along you’re ready to enter).

All in all the contest was totally successful, and also makes me not so reluctant to finally get my own camcorder for the next time around.
