Can You Spell Frustration?

It’s hard enough nowadays without some separate entity deciding what’s worth printing and what’s not. I’m not going to mention this third party company by name, but it’s fair to say my frustration level with them is rising by the second.

Typically some bloggers do make posts for other companies in return for payment. This blog occasionally posts these types of promotions after careful consideration. I don’t just post willy nilly, it has to make some sort of sense for me to share it with you. However, when stupid “rules and regulations” get in the way, making a post invalid, it is immensely frustrating. The average advertiser wants 100 to 200 words. I regularly post 300 to 600 words about their company.

It’s not the company’s fault. I’m sure they are very happy with the post. It’s the middle man company that, without even passing it along for review, decides first whether or not something qualifies or not – based on some set of rules that seems to grow at a whim.

Should a blogger be expected to post something in between? Okay, I understand that rule. Should a blogger be expected to post random “crap” in between to satisfy some requirement of that third party? I think not. There are tons of splogs out there that do just that… post and post and post for the sake of just putting something up. Most of these actually pulling in other people’s material and calling it their own (not in so many words, but building their blogs off the backs of other writers). These types of blogs are paid, while the honorable, hard working blogger gets stiffed.

Making a living online is no easy task and when you’re at the whim and mercy of a middle man that task becomes even harder. They know that by making “paid posts” it’s harder to build a reputation with search engines like Google (with their (in)famous PR). It’s a slap in the face to compound this with rejections based on nothing more than a stupid “rule.”

There are many third party places out there that pay a blogger to make posts – so again I am not naming the one currently providing yet another frustration my way. They have been decent to work for 90% of the time. It’s the occasional “rejection letter” that’s gotten on my nerves this morning.

I work very hard, and if you’re a blogger reading this or an internet marketer working your heart out online, I’m sure you agree. If you do the job, you should be paid for that job.

Enough said.

I hear you on that. Hope you get something worked out to your satisfaction!

If by “in between” you mean interim posts, I think they are completely necessary but shouldn’t be required. Most people don’t want to read blogs that are sponsored after sponsored after sponsored, and those kinds of blogs will sink to the bottom with or without regulation. My rule of thumb is typically double the amount of nonsponsored posts to sponsored.

Hi Corrin! I totally agree with the post something different in between, but it was the length of time held against me. While I would have happily posted anything old thing in between, I really try had to post material worth reading. Also, between medical trips, ultrasounds, and trying to figure out the college system here in the State of Nevada (my son), I just did not have a breath of breathing room to post something. So an extra day or two went by based on a set time span that (seriously) I was unaware of. Granted my ignorance is most likely no excuse, but please… sometimes life itself gets in the way of trying to keep up a good, read-worthy blog.

Well strangely enough I think MAYBE there is a voice of reason within that particular firm. We shall see :)

Frustration a common emotional response to opposition. Related to anger and disappointment, it arises from the perceived resistance to the fulfillment of individual will. The greater the obstruction, and the greater the will, the more the frustration is likely to be. Causes of frustration may be internal or external. In people, internal frustration may arise from challenges in fulfilling personal goals and desires, instinctual drives and needs, or dealing with perceived deficiencies, such as a lack of confidence or fear of social situations. Conflict can also be an internal source of frustration; when one has competing goals that interfere with one another, it can create cognitive dissonance. External causes of frustration involve conditions outside an individual, such as a blocked road or a difficult task. While coping with frustration, some individuals may engage in passive-aggressive behavior, making it difficult to identify the original cause(s) of their frustration, as the responses are indirect. A more direct, and common response, is a propensity towards aggression.[1]

Although I’ve never done sponsored posts, I definitely can relate to what you are saying. Anytime you put effort and time into something, you should expect to be compensated.

Interesting. I didn’t know that there are also middle men when it comes to paid blogging. I don’t have that much info about paid advertising in blogs, but I do understand your frustration. I hope you’ll be able to sort things out.

I hate it when that happens!

Same thing happened to me and I didn’t know about the rule. Wonder if there’s a new reviewer hired? :)
