Diggs Kind Of Little Brother Pyrabang
I just got off the phone with the CEO and Founder of Pyrabang, Christian Perrillo (see note at the very end of this post). I had a specific reason for calling (a subscription problem of my own doing), and was more than pleasantly surprised to reach him by phone.
For the observant visitor, you’ll note on the sidebar of this blog, the vertical box to Pyrabang. It “looks like” (in its own odd way) a Google adsense box (which are also there). However, that’s where the resemblance stops.
Pyrabang is more like Digg’s little brother – in my mind – especially after the conversation that I just had with Christian.
Only “similar to Digg.” Pyrabang goes well beyond that popular social media website. Pyrabang’s tagline is “the new media” and this new media serves multiple purposes:
o To raise awareness about a broad range of things you find interesting on the net and want to tell others “hey, go look!”
o It’s a source of “advertising” that leans heavily toward (or will in the near future) information versus “ads” (they are “cleaning house”)
o And… you can make money.
The “problem” to date, in my mind, with Pyrabang has been describing it to other people. But maybe I can help you see the value of something so amazingly simple, yet effective.
I’ve posted six “posts.” In other words, I’ve created little mini snippets (just like you would in Google’s Adwords only you get a bit more room) of information pointing to things I think you’ll really benefit from by clicking and reading. These “posts” or snippets appear in the widget of everyone displaying the widget. According to Christian, there are around 9,000 Pyrabangers (the video later will say 7,000). You don’t have to, but you really should, display the widget – there’s money there….
I should have (and will now) been posting more and more often.
Regardless, for the mere price of the gold membership at $5.95/month (they have free, too), these snippets (many to posts or webpages of interest of my own) have generated over 25,404 impressions on other people’s sites. Those impressions have generated 148 visitors overall. So roughly, based solely on the monthly membership, each visitor to date has cost $0.04 cents. Beat that adwords!
(I make that statement because even with the minimum amount I’ve done so far, the monthly cost versus the payout return has at least covered the cost of the membership price – for me.)
============================================
Here’s an example of a click thru to a “post results page”
Notice the header across the top and all the options, including
signing up (free or gold) – with several other option buttons, too.
(See sidebar for how they display on other people’s sites.)
Please DO join even for free and visit the link above
again so you can BANG IT for me, thanks!
Remember you’re after visitors & bangs & more….
============================================
Also, during the course of my conversation, I realized I was actually writing “ads” (in some cases) when what I should really be doing (in more of my cases thankfully) is pointing people to truly interesting information ANYWHERE on the web.
Yes, a percentage of your “posts” (snippets) could be to a page of real information of your own that also provides access to that all-important product. But that’s not the only (or primary) reason to “bang.” All sorts of “info bites” or snippet info posts can make you money and/or build more credits for you to post more snippet and get more visitors, more bangs, and make (potentially) more money.
Having a bit of background does help. According to its CEO, Pyrabang came about from a simple political strategy back in 2007 (wasn’t my candidate of choice, but that’s neither here nor there). In essence, Perrillo discovered the power of grassroots and that incredible story can be heard here (uses Quicktime in a new window):
So then he thought why not develop a “broadcasting system” that dynamically works to build itself – not only in terms of impressions and visitors – but money for himself (of course) and its members.
Notice I did not use the words “advertising system.” Like Digg, used properly, it generates traffic! (Do your selling on the “other side” once they get where they are going if you must.)
Below, you’ll find a link out to their newest “Introduction Video.” In the meantime, here is, hopefully, some more direct insight from the web site itself:
PyraBang money is residual – both on the posting side and also on the referring side! When you sponsor new members you get money residually month after month. When you post your valuable information circulates while you are sleeping and making you “bangs” (worth 1/10 of a cent each) which you can cash in for real money!
You can build a solid portfolio on PyraBang that resembles all the bookmarks/favorites you have on your browser for less than a few bucks on your initial investment. Then your information works while your sleep, making you bangs and also getting out to 1000’s of visitors on hundreds of websites all over the internet!
Got a bit of activist in you? Maybe a little revolutionary? Well you and I can have front row seats in the information war and the fight against big media! Our contribution to this cause is actually under 6 bucks per month… and it’s not hard to get your membership paying for itself and then some – just wait till you see their rewards plan!
In fact, the whole concept behind this is expressed nicely in one of their banners:

Visit the site and right smack dab in front of your face when you arrive they should have their newest “Introduction Video” which does a pretty good job explaining how you benefit by using Pyrabang.
Also while you’re here, RIGHT CLICK on any of the titles in the Pyrabang to your right that interest you. Right clicking will open them in a new window (by choosing “open in new window”) for sure. This way when you’re done investigating, you’ll return right here. By doing so, you’ll get an even better feel for the system itself. Again, the “hype ads” should be making their way off the board over time. Understand that you can generate interest (read traffic) by NOT writing hyped up material or stating prices or doing all those lovely things we are all so immune to… write interesting, even wacky headlines and snippets to really draw attention to your “posted ad” for the traffic you’re after
BTW, this has been the hardest to write post I have EVER done. But I can safely say, now, revisit or newly visit Pyrabang, and put Digg’s “little brother” to work for you.
(NOTE: After 6 p.m. here, and the first line of this post was typed at around 10 a.m. this morning. And I still think I haven’t done this one justice…. Oh and I’ve been a member of Pyrabang since March and dummy me, I’m going to be using it a whole lot more!)

Great info. I appreciate the good tips. Internet marketing is one of those things that a person really needs to research to get the most bang for their buck.
Keep the good info coming.

Thanks Dave! Agree completely – it can be very difficult when you don’t know what you’re doing or try to follow too many people’s varying views on “what works and what doesn’t.” Three things I know that are never put down are: 1) ezine advertising; 2) blogging; and 3) article writing. Finding meaningful, action-oriented social media areas can be a true challenge to work them properly. Take on a few even if you’re tempted to just join them all. You won’t be able to keep up. Develop a good internet marketing strategy, stick to it, and work your little buns off.

I don’t really understand the revenue model they are trying to use here. Where does the money come from and how do you earn it?

Totally agree! Unless you’ve got your band of merry Digg friends to help push you along (which is against the rules but must happen anyway), you’re left out in the cold….

No inside scoops LOL! I’ve been deficient using this service, but not finally “getting it” is making all the difference.

why does this one appeal to me? I don’t even understand what the $6.00 is for but something in me says… “go for it!” lol

LOL, because if nothing else it’s a very inexpensive way to get important stuff you’d like others to hear or know about featured on 1000s of other people’s blogs
