Mom Remembered YouSayToo
This morning, just like yesterday morning, I was kindly reminded by the folks at YouSayToo that, to them, it appeared our widget for their program wasn’t registering (you’ll see it right there to the right close to the Entrecard widget).
Their reminder though did inspire me to take my second trip in the past two days to their web site. What I discovered is that while the feed to this blog is pulling in nicely (clicking the link above will show that), there’s also plenty of room over there to make individual (secondary or first postings if you’re new) blog entries within their system.
So you will see a portion of what I’m about to write already there (at YouSayToo). But I also wanted to post it here… it’s my small tribute to my mother:
With Mother’s Day right around the corner, I’d like to take a moment to not only commend those women doing their job right (and condemn those that should never have had kids in the first place), but also to give a cybershout to my mother.
My mom, born during the depression, passed away a few years ago from the horrible disease ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease).
All her life, my mom was a real go-getter. She didn’t believe in just sitting on your butt when there were things to be done. She would take on anything from household repairs, to Brownies, to Girl Scouts, and a whole family of six (plus two dogs) on our holiday camping trips – with such flair, such ease (whether she considered these vacations or not I’m sure would have been up for debate lol!).
For her to have died in such a horrible fashion is, to this day, unbelievable. But it happened.
She is missed more than she could ever have imagined or know.
Happy Mother’s Day Mom!
And Happy Soon-to-Be Mother’s Day to all those out there who truly enjoy being moms!

I’m sorry for your loss (and knowing you, I’m know the loss is still fresh). It sounds as though your Mom was a wonderful, active woman. I’m sorry that she had to suffer in her passing. Love you, my friend!
Thank you so much Judy! Yep, you know me very well
You also know this might be the closest I’ll ever come to posting my picture but lucky for me (I think!) I take after my mom. Sure do miss her!!

Hey I know this might sound a little strange but could you give me some information on ALS. We are going to be doing a charity run soon, and we don’t have anything to sponsor as yet. I have noticed loads of people talking about this disease recently and maybe we could do something to help…
Great tribute to a great lady. I miss her and you were absolutely right – if there was a job to be done, she was there. During the last few years of her life we had some great trips together and spent a lot of time laughing hysterically at any and all things that struck our funny bones.
Thanks for the visit Deb, god I miss her! And hopefully Margaret you can get your group together to help out such a worthy cause! ALS of Nevada is always looking for sponsors. They are not a part of the large association. This way the money raised stays in the state that did the fundraising… and Nevada is a huge state – maybe we don’t have all the people, but they are soooooo spread out that every bit of assistance – volunteering and/or money is greatly appreciated! http://www.alsofnevada.org

Hi Diane,
I’m sure your Mom would be very honored and proud of what you are doing with ALS of Nevada! I too share your pain. My mother passed seven years ago this weekend, from complications of Diabetes. While, I enjoy being a Mom, Mother’s Day is hard for me, because to me, she was the best!
