Sunday Shake Em Up Day at OIMS

After reading our friend and fellow Whole-Hog-Blogger, Judy at More Than Sew So and her current (at this time) post Who Is This Man, today I figured presenting some educational and highly enlightening new sources might be a better way to serve our Sunday readers (and beyond).

So I’ve compiled a short list of highly rated, highly regarded blogs whose sole purpose is to present news – current event style – on what’s really going on in Washington, as well as great pieces about the entertainment industry, sports, etc.

Here is the list:

The Daily Beast
Ana Marie Cox, writer and featured speaker on MSNBC news
The Huffington Post

Granted one must have an OPEN mind to read the above. I’ve heard them take all sides on all issues versus some out there that are strictly “old guard” trying valiantly to uphold that which clearly a majority of our nation turned down – emphatically – in November and celebrated – joyously – just a few days ago in Washington, D.C.

No one knows the future, but heading into the future without a plan, and flying on the old “wing and a prayer (and screw your fellow citizens) plan” obviously did not work. Wanting to stick to the same – for reasons unknown, but perhaps it is the “unknown” that scares some people – has moved our great country more than giant steps backward not forward.

My mind reels actually to hear most of what comes out of these news sources not because it’s BS, but what our government believes it can get away with (and until recently has) – and as We The People, we have let them.

I should at this point mention my two favorite news shows (television) which are programs over at MSNBC:

Countdown With Keith Olbermann and
The Rachel Maddow Show

But before I close, in the interest of maintaining a fuller spectrum of where to get your news, if you’re dead set on getting just the rhetoric of the die-hard GOP base, and feel it necessary to cling tenuously to the past, here are a few news sources online just for you:

Thinkgprogress.org (a misnomer, not much on “progress” but worth a laugh), along with FoxNews (which originally aired The Simpsons – a creative and very much “progressive” cartoon show for its time – but showed its true colors very early on – lopsided and biased and staunchly right winged – way right)

Enjoy your Sunday, and remember….

Give us your opinions – it is a free country let alone a “free” internet – your comments most welcome! Please comment!

OK…I’ve heard all the rhetoric from both sides. I TRY to have an open mind and weigh all the facts (when given the right ones). Being a staunch Republican, you are correct in assuming that I lean to the right…way right…But, consider this…maybe they don’t call it “right” for nuthin’! Left of center, by definition, has always given me the impressesion that it’s a bit screwed…oops, make the skewed. LOL Still love you, my friend!

Hi Judy! So glad you stopped by… nothing like a bit of back and forth “debate” LOL!

You know what? I read these blogs all of the time and get to see what both sides are saying. I certainly do not understand how the GOP thinks that their agenda for the last 8 years has got this country on the right track for growth. All I am experiencing is a downward trend in the economy, job loss in the millions, goods and services going away.

So could someone explain to me why the GOP and its followers are so bitter as to why Obama is not the right man for the job? Maybe cause the people of the United States decided they had enough and
said LOUD and CLEAR that it is the Democrats turn. It is time to get over it and see what the man can do.

@Linda – I really don’t give a rat’s behind WHAT “party” it is… just so long as GOOD comes out of it all. It was the person and the message I voted for, NOT and NEVER any particular party. Hell, if Mickey Mouse could do the job right I’d have voted for him :)

The thing is to get positive. Thoughts ARE things. For those who “won” great! Let’s move our collective butts. For those who feel like they “lost” move on!

We live in THIS moment and THIS one and THIS one… moving forward people is the only way things will happen – and yes praying for much better times ahead!

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. I’m for whoever is willing to roll up their sleeves and get down to business. I don’t care about the parties. We’ve got a whole lot of fixin’ to be done!

  6. I haven’t read any of these blogs, but will take a look at them now. I to believe that we have to give this admin. a chance and we “the people” have to get involved in any way that we can. I think for the first time in a very long time all of America feels that we have a chance to get something done if we “do” get involved and do whatever we can in our own communities.

@jj-mom – we’ve got a chance IF the idiots in Washington will stop thinking about what THEY can get out of it and think of US – We The People. New report about that another 40,000 people have lost their jobs.

For those with a job at the moment, it may be your turn next.

So whether you’re Democrat or Republican YELL AT YOUR REPRESENTATIVE AND SENATORS to get up off their behinds, stop looking for something in it for THEM, and take care of this country and its people.

Damn I am so mad about this!!!! The self centered should be taken out and after a fair trial shot like the dirty dogs they are!
