Without Growth Everything Whithers and Dies Will You Be Responsible?
As a reader of this blog, you know our aim is the day to day pursuit of helping you be successful. Politics was never on the menu… until this evening. I’ve got stuff to say and I’m going to say it.
You know what the trouble in this country is? It’s the inability for the people of this great nation to gather as one voice and declare, “We have had enough!”
To this very day, rather than have to exert the fraction of mental energy involved to come to logical, well informed, decisions, is it true that people are just blind little sheep wanting to be lead?
Whether you believe in God or not, some force gave you the brains to work things out for yourself. However, if you don’t take the time to really listen - with an open mind and open ears and open heart - making an intellectually informed decision may be beyond you.
From politics to internet marketing, too often we go blindly into the dark night. Do you believe anything for yourself or because “that’s the way my family has always been” or “what was good then is good enough for now.”
Never has this kind of thinking been more dangerous then in the current conditions - both within this country and globally.
I would love to believe that not only in the coming election, but in our day to day lives, people will choose to make the BEST decisions. Voting “a party line” just because you always have just may prove to be the most dangerous decision you make. And, remember we have generations coming behind us that we MUST be responsible for - and to accept that responsibility one must start here and now.
Change is needed desperately. The same old tired lines should no longer work on you; not listening and letting others run amok is what got us into this fix to start with. Letting others control your life instead of taking charge of your own affairs means suffering the consequences when they get it wrong or outright steal from you.

Personally, I would love to see a woman in the White House. However, at what expense? Did they pick this woman as a bad joke? The “token white woman?!” To influence people without ears? Without brains? My god do they believe we are that stupid?? And, will we be dumb enough to prove them right? God help us.
This is just one of so many times when presented with an opportunity to shine, the woman had NO ANSWERS. And, to add insult to injury she DIDN’T THINK I’D NOTICE! What that I’m too stupid to realize she’s NOT ANSWERING THE QUESTIONS. (And I’m not just picking on one instance, I spent two hours listening to this type of “duh” moments!)
We need women in leadership, but we need women who know how to lead.
And here’s where we all are responsible because don’t forget the next in line takes over should something happen to the top dog. That alone should frighten the living crap out of you!
No one knows the future, but we all have a hand in determining, right now, where that future might end up.
Change must happen. Nothing static grows. Without growth, there is no life.
It is time we vote with our brains - and if some of the facts are beyond you, start reading, watching, listening, questioning. Each person has the right to their viewpoints, that is certain. However, each person also has a responsibility to the group as a whole.
As young children, we may have wanted things “our way.” But with growth and adulthood comes responsibility. And that responsibility requires each individual to make the right choice especially this coming November.
I value age, but not at this cost. Now is the time for fresh blood. This time around, the right thing should be done. Let “age” step aside - retire, go fishing! In this case, just the mere fact of being older doesn’t make you more qualified.
In fact, “younger” (fresher, more creative, more in touch with what’s needed and happening to the rest of us!) is something this country is in desperate need of… It is time for a change! The old school must fade away for the young to flourish! I want my son to have a future; I pray you want the same for yours.
Tomorrow I have some truly heart warming information to share with you about “everyday heroes” stepping up to the plate to help their fellow man/woman during these tenuous times.

If I were a republican woman, I would be deeply offended to think that Sarah Palin is the best the Republican Party could do. There are a great many well educated, intelligent republican women out there and they go and pick this nut.

@JMom - yeah, that thought goes through my mind constantly. What the hell were they thinking? And for McCain to say “Well she’s been Mayor twice and Governor…” OMG! Couric doing the interview or ANYONE ELSE would have made a better choice.
I’m looking forward to a time when a woman does run the show, but my god, this isn’t the PTA we’re talking about! Yes, it’s nice she’s a “down home” sort of person, but would you think - even if you love them to death - that your husband or wife is qualified to take on the world?
I was only kidding a few posts back about Lewis Black’s idea to “shove a monkey out of an airplane and the first person whose hand it grabs is president (or vice president).” Holy cow! That looks like EXACTLY what the Republican party did. Could it be the “old guard” is going senile? Sure looks like it from my point of view!

As a woman, democrat, republican, independent, whatever, … I am truly offended that this woman is a candidate for vice president. The scary part is that mccain thought we would all buy it. That says alot about his campaign doesn’t it! It is TIME for the GOP to vacate the White House, the Senate, the Congress and this campaign…..

@Linda - yeah I know what you mean. There’s one thing to sit across a table and chitchat about “this and that” with someone, but when that someone believes chitchat and being folksy qualifies you for a top position in government, that’s where I draw the line. Listened to the VP debate tonight, and while she didn’t fall on her face, she rarely if ever actually answered any of the questions presented. In fact, at one point saying “I’m not going to answer that, instead I want to talk about…” For god’s sake woman you’re not 5 years old! Answer the frigging questions! You’re making us all look bad!

Your piece is right on point! She has scared the heck out of me from day one….. if not for me but for my children and their children. We will be going backwards at a time when our nation needs to move forward and not be mocked. Someone who understands the importance of the role. Unfortunately, I’m worried about all the folks who are buying into her stage presence and not really listening. Don’t forget too, that there are many conservatives out there with the same religious backgrounds as hers….. I hope they can look at where she stands on ALL the issues though. We all need to continue to do our part and speak up when able…. thanks for the great post and keeping this in front of us!

@Janet - I distinctly remember a post of yours along similar lines a few weeks ago. I’ll be making mention in my today’s post about a few things that I noted during the VP debate. Yes, just standing firm America on the TRUE desire for change and not getting sucked into pat non-answers. LISTEN up and hear what’s NOT being said (and when they do say anything, it’s frightening) from the McCain-Palin camp. We have got to be taken seriously in the world, and we get two of the three stoogies running for office???? Have we sunk that low?
