Jumping Back to Jumptags For A Real Boost in Backlinking
Written by diane on July 7, 2008 – 12:44 pm -Four prior posts, to date, have discussed the advantages of using Jumptags as a social book marking tool for your website and/or blog.
These posts have included proof that just taking a few seconds of your time each time you make a post - or even add a new page to your website - to log into your Jumptags account means multiple links in the search engines extremely quickly (we’ve even got pictures).
So why am I returning today to talk once again about the beauty of back link building with this social media strategy?
First, because revisiting things that work and discussing them more than once on your blog is of great benefit to new visitors and returning readers alike (they may have missed your earlier posts).
Secondly, because being a sheep ain’t the best way to approach your marketing. By that I mean, everyone talks “Digg” or “Technorati” or… well you get the drift.
Don’t get me wrong, I do believe Digg, Technorati, etc., are important, but they are not the be all and end all of social media and/or social bookmarking.
Funny enough though, it’s the “littler guys” that tend to show huge results in places like Google and Yahoo… faster.
[Maybe when your a big fish, giving the little fish a leg up is a nice move. Or maybe just maybe the coding in the little fish ponds is a tad more conducive to link building.]
I have no scientific proof of that statement, but when researching how our link building is growing, the proof sits right in front of my face. Hard to argue with that
So what’s our next “scientific experiment” with Jumptags? Well encouraging “users” is high up there on our list of things to do.
Each time you make your mark in Jumptags - for a little while depending on the activity at that time on Jumptags - your bookmarked what-have-you sits on the front page. Of course, it’s also categorized in depth by the keywords and tags you include so even after it rotates off, you’re still pulling the benefits.
However, I’m now intrigued and am planning an experiment. Each posted bookmark (you can do pages, videos, etc., etc.) has it’s own unique url.
For instance, some of our inclusions have used the tag “marketing strategies” which if you click this link will demonstrate what I’m talking about quickly enough (go ahead it opens in a new window).
As you can see below each image there is a line stating “by 1 users” (the number varies). That “1″ is definitely us as we posted. The idea - simply enough - is to get other people involved in wanting to bookmark your stuff. (To encourage this, it’s always a good idea if you return the favor
)
So how can you help your visitors, readers, clients, and more assist you in your own experiment?
o First, you’ll need a Jumptags account.
o Add a few personal touches after you activate the email they send and log in.
o Then make your first bookmark in their system.
o Remember at least one of your tags - that’s important
Then, like I did up above, put links on your blogs and website and encourage your visitors to help you out, give you a leg up so to speak.
At the very least by posting the link(s) itself on your website and/or blog, you’re creating your own link back to them. Always handy. At its best, you may get some takers (hint, hint) who help you run your own experiment in link building, too
Without a doubt, Jumptags can be responsible for building 100s of links in the search engines all pointing to your website and/or blog. All you need to do is use it.

Hi Diane,
I have been reading your blog for a long time, but, never commented. However, I did sign-up for Jumptags and Qassia based on your blogs. Just haven’t got around to some of the others. I have now posted 11 pages on Jumptags. Don’t know if it has done any good yet. But, it doesn’t take much time and is worth the try.
Keep up the good work. Love your blog.

Okay, Diane.
I went off the tracks at “put links on your blogs and website and encourage your visitors to help you out.”
I know, I’m not your quickest student. I’m just not sure what you meant by that. Can you run it by be again S L O W L Y?

@fpouch I just put your website url into Google, straight nothing fancy at the front, just plain http://www.make-money-online-4u.com. You do the same and you’ll see you have links to jumptags and qassia including those highly sought after indented listings! Yes, in terms of search engine listings, it is working
@Brad - I have to go back and revisit my suggestion. While my first trip to the “marketing strategies” tags clearly showed up multiple times, the 2nd time back there was only the listing of our overall blog. I think I need to further investigate linking directly to a bookmark in Jumptags. If anyone sees the flaw in my linking, please let me know

Stupid thing put the http:// in front of your url fpouch - be sure NOT to be that in when you get to Google! Just the www’s the rest of your domain name and the “.com”
Sigh! Knew I should have logged in to reply back LOL!

Hi Diane,
Social Bookmarking sites are VIP to having success with your blog and driving traffic to your Parent Sites. Especially when starting off in the Affiliate and Internet Marketing arena to get you noticed. It also helps to provide valuable backlinks towards getting your pages indexed fast and ranked higher in the Search Engines… So the combination of going social end gaining a good targeted traffic flow from the Search Engines will give your online business a great boost.
Have a great day,
Albert

@Albert - agreed, it is the little things that have big results that many overlook. I consider social bookmarking and commenting to be two of the “little things in life” for no other reason then they are free to do, and easy to do. Yet both have huge impact on your blog and/or website links in the search engines - and increase human traffic to your spot on the net. Why wouldn’t you do them?!

It seems to me that the use of all these social networks to increase the traffic to your blog, when everyone else is doing it, is a bit of a self fulfilling process. Soon everyone will be doing this, and another method will come out to be one step ahead and build your web presence another way.

@Katherine - I think “soon everyone will be doing this” is more like “everyone is doing this” but I see it in a more positive light. Before, traditionally, SEO for websites was (and still is) the huge “thing to do.” That’s because when methods work to bring traffic, people wishing to have their sites seen, will do what works

I am always looking for new ways of building backlinks to my sites and had never heard of Jumptags. Thanks for the heads up on this one as I will give it a whirl!

Hi Diane, thanks for bringing this up. I’m fairly new in the blogging community and ideas like this makes me more interested on the learning part of blogging.
To be honest it’s a hard way up but like what they say, aim for the moon and atleast you’ll be at level with stars
Great point in sharing this as it’s new for me. I’ll try to digest this info asap
Cheers!

I guess I am just not convinced that I need to sign up for yet another of these things in the hope it might help.

@Capy - you are most welcome - now watch for those sought-after indented links. It takes a bit of time but not that much time for Jumptags to really kick in.
@Marc - being new it’s great to start right out the gate with linking that works - naturally!
To everyone, be sure to go through your back posts and bookmark them, too. If you have a lot of time (relatively speaking) do bookmark each individual post by clicking on that posts and bookmarking that specific url (every one).

@psycheskinner in terms of creating links in the search engines, why wouldn’t you give it a go? It’s fast, you do it right after you make your post so it’s painless and it works. Our blog started February 3 has (as of today on the west coast) 15,000 links in google - and jumptags and places like spicypage are definitely in the running for getting that linking. Plus lots of wonderful indented links. Our blogstats show all sorts of search terms we don’t specifically target, bringing us visitors through the search engines. For us, and not everyone we understand, this is a no brainer.

Every day some new social program comes out and to be honest it’s hard to keep up with them all and honestly I don’t find any of them important because for the most part they aren’t bringing the kind of traffic we all want.
I guarantee that regular consistent posting of quality articles to your blog will do more in the long run and bring in the people who will stay.
July 11th, 2008 at 4:12 pm
@Talen - I think you’ve missed the boat. This is a way to take those wonderful articles you write for your blog and bookmark in a setting that is guaranteed to be picked up by the search engines. In terms of traffic that you want, I would say that a keyword specific search in say Google, that lands someone on our blog is pretty darn targeted

Interesting article. I had never heard of jump tags till now either.
