The world is full of ingenious people, and those that bring these geniuses to our attention. Tonight is no exception when I came across first Rockfuse, and then followed that post on to The Sleepy Geek. Both blogs are talking about a new Wordpress post updater called (no surprise here), the Plurk updater.

So what in the world is Plurk?

To start you off, here’s a screenshot, though it may be more confusing then helpful:

Confused? We warned you LOL! But think Twitter and you’ve got more than the basic idea :)

The thing about Plurk is that, even though it is relatively new, it’s already got a great Alexa traffic rank of 30,986 (as of this post). Pretty popular, yes? From a marketing standpoint, certainly worth checking out even if you don’t use Wordpress.

So what can you do with Plurk? That’s best explained by borrowing a little excerpt from the website itself:

“Why join them, of course! Yes, Plurk is for everyone. We’ve taken the time, the complexity, and the deep introspection required out of blogging.

This isn’t Billy Q. Poindexter’s blog, no, no. Instead, Plurk is an easy way to chronicle and share the things you do, the way you feel, and all the other things in between that make up your life, with the people close to you. It’s instant gratification, instant self-indulgence, instant celebrity, instantly YOU. Share your life stream, live your life… Plurk!”

Now to be perfectly honest with you, for us at least, the jury is still out on (yes) Twitter LOL! We like our marketing efforts and community involvement to go a step further and show up in the search engines. The way Twitter posts your Twits, using tinyurls, the chances are next to slim that any sort of linking is going to come from spending tons of time in Twitter. Also there is so much going on in there, it really is hard to see the forest for the trees.

Plurk might also be “one of those” situations. However, here’s the real charmer for all your Wordpress users… the Plurk updater (linked above) and the highlight of this post.

Every time you make your post, in theory (we just found this and will be testing it this week), there’s an announcement of “hey I wrote something come see it!” made on your Plurk. As you get friends and followers, it stands to reason they, too, will see these new post announcements. We’re thinking traffic, but again only time will tell.

We like to be fair, and fair involves testing. So we’re adding this new updater to our use, watch, record, report list.

Stay tuned for updates (pun intended!).

Oh and yes, today marks our 100th post!
