Jumptags A Winner In Any Book Plus An Update on Blogcatalog to Boot
Today is a double whammy with a new resource that gets listed quickly in the search engines (along with those sought after “indented” listings), and a link out to more information on how BlogCatalog can boost your search engine rankings.
First let’s take a look at Jumptags:
What is Jumptags and Why Should You Be Using It?
Like many of the free online bookmarking services, Jumptags allows you to create, organize, share and publish your bookmarks online. However, it goes further than your traditional De.licious which makes it a killer application when it comes to getting your blog or website listed in the search engines.
What makes Jumptags so special is your ability to tag a variety of subjects like your bookmarks, a note, a video, a contact, an RSS feed, and more.
The beauty comes in the tagging and publishing. Once you go through the simple signup process, your first job should be tagging and publishing your website and your blog (both if you have them of course). Then remember to come back and tag and publish even the individual pages within your website and/or your individual blog posts (using the specific and direct url to that page or post, not just to your front page – look to “deep link”).
Why should you bother? How’s this for proof:

Oh, and in case you’re wondering… Jumptags is free
And Here’s Your BlogCatalog Update
Daniel, aka thegoodknife, is the Lead Programmer over at our favorite BlogCatalog. His post today addresses how serious bloggers can use the BlogCatalog system to its fullest. Once again, the proof is in the doing – and the more you do the better the proof
Here’s an excerpt from his post Boosting Your BlogRank:
I’m not totally sure who’s idea it was originally, but one morning i woke up and had an e-mail from Tony detailing elaborate suggestions as to how we could score blogs in order to decide what order they appear in the directory. With SEO and PageRanks being the latest craze during that time, it seemed only natural to call our system BlogRank. Over time we have slowly tweaked, added, and removed what goes into the ranks to come up with something that helps highlight the active bloggers and tries to bury the dead blogs in the stacks.
Daniel goes on to give specific directions to ensure your blog remains visible for all to see. Solid advice since social media marketing means real human-to-human interaction.

For those not yet using BlogCatalog or not actively using it, now is the time to start!

Sounds like I better get more “education” on how all of this bookmarking and deep linking works. Thanks for the info to get me started!
@Janet you’re doing great – do keep in mind something we posted somewhere else on this blog, to pick the ones you’ll remember to work and use. Having many (and not “working them”) is a complete waste of time (you know this of course!).
